A beautiful three-part map of the railroad route from Chicago to San Francisco, ostensibly via “The Burlington Route” of the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad. However, this route only really got you as far as Omaha, and you were then through-booked on other railroads like the Union Pacific the rest of the way west. The map just is filled with superb detail: mileages, elevations, population of towns, prevalent industries and land uses along the way, and more. Primitive printing techniques from 1879 means that the ink registration is a little off in places, but this is still a wonderful piece.
Available as a 23″ by 9″ poster, with a 0.5″ white border on all sides (24″ by 10″ sheet).
Each poster is printed on-demand using fully archival, UltraChrome inks on Moab Lasal Matte, a beautiful, brilliant white, 230gsm (11 mil) alpha cellulose paper which is acid- and lignin-free. Each print is carefully inspected, wrapped in pH-neutral paper, then rolled and placed in a sturdy chipboard tube for shipping.
